Biography :
Thuraya has her expertise in designing, synthesis and characterization of heterocyclic compounds that expected to have biological activity. Her work mainly focuses on designing heterocycles e.g. benzimidazole, benzoxazole, benzothiazole, based on the prime example is ciprofloxacin, the most potential antibiotic with wide spectrum of biological activity. The heterocycles are designed with a fluorine and piperazine moieties. The structures of these compounds were confirmed using different techniques; FTIR, NMR, HRMS and X-ray. Several papers have been published in the past years and some skeletons show a promising results. I am currently working at A'Sharqiyah University and I have been involved in reviewing many proposals from other academic institution inside and outside Oman.
