Oral presentations can be stated as an effective verbal communication that may include slides containing relevant information about your presentation. Participants should not just blindly read out the information on screen or type all their important points on a slide, this kind of things always distracts an individual from being engaged with the audience. If you always turn towards your slides or look down at your laptop, you cannot make proper contact with the audience.
Always try to follow the below given guidelines helps your presentation to look more effective and attractive. The tips given below will always help you to hold the audience throughout your presentation.
Always present your presentation as a story tale. Try to explain a story about the ideas you wish to convey, rather than listing statistics and a lot of information.
Always use Short introductions because the session will introduce you and save your time for important points.
Include the visual aids. Make sure that they add spice to your presentation. Visual aids like slides always help to attract and hold the attention of audience. Again, the visual component should not affect your presentation rather it should only illustrate your idea.
Start off with a bang! Always start the presentation with a tale, a quote, an idea, or some eye-opening facts from your findings. It is fine if you begin with a question.
Never look at your slides and read them out blindly. The audience will be watching your slides. Remember, they should be short and sweet. You need not to use full sentences, just remember the six-six rule.
Practice how to speak fluently. Practice your presentation as many times as possible, this builds up the confidence within you and you will only have 10-20 minutes so consider the time given to you. Use your time effectively and wisely. Remember your practice makes you perfect and helps a lot in delivering a powerful presentation.
Always give importance to your findings. Decrease the amount of effort that you put on decorating your background, but ensure that you have offered enough material, background and information for your conclusions to make sense for your audience.
Make sure the sequence and continuation of your slides. A current slide should make a continuation for the next slide
Proper use of Graphs and charts would help the audience to understand clearly the concept and information you are willing to provide.
Don’t confuse the audience with huge data on graphs as well as charts. Don’t use fancy colors and flash, gif images which make the audience remember only those effects rather than your information so make it simple!
Always Use easy-to-read and high-contrast fonts that are common to most computers. Do not use italics, ALL CAPS and other enhancements that distract and clutter the audience. In fact, that produces a negative impact on your overall presentation
You will get the technical assistance once you start the presentation. Each presentation will be displayed using operating system (windows) and you can use the projector which will be available connected to a laptop. The recommended software to be used is Microsoft as it is used frequently. Smart pointer will be provided.
Poster presentation helps you to share the information with the audience, in the form of a poster. We don’t have any presentation to be done orally in this session; instead each participant is given an area on which data, pictures/photos, graphics and bit of text are presented. The poster should be designed in such a way that it should possess a special quality in which it can be explained by itself, but the author should be available to interact with the audience at the time of breaks as well as during the time allotted to poster session, to answer the questions raised by them
You can find many templates regarding posters on web. Select any one that suits well for your presentation.
Now share the selected layout with others like friends and colleagues for a genuine feedback before proceeding further.
The heading of the poster should be at the centre on top of the poster as well as it should include the name of the topic, the author’s name in fact the contact details. Select a legible font which can be clearly viewed, at least from approximately 3 meters of distance.
Use a very simple format including spatial layout with helpful color combinations.
Abbreviations and jargon are to be avoided strictly.
The poster will automatically attract the viewers if your ideas are presented clearly including the topic, conclusions, methodology as well as the visibility of the poster, which plays the major role.
The poster should be 2x3 (i.e. 2 feet width and 3 feet height). Please make sure that the poster is within the given size.
Always make sure that you handover the poster to the organizing committee at the submission table with in the deadline.
You will be allotted with a specific time slot for the viewing your poster in the UR forum conference and make sure that you are available at your poster for clearing queries and discussions during the session.
The participants should be able to explain their material, exchange contact information, answer questions and completely discuss the required subject, as the audience examine the displays at the time allocated for poster presentation.
Electronic Posters or e-posters are similar to traditional paper posters, but displayed on-site on a large LCD television screen and are available for electronic viewing at all times for participants.
E-posters will be available at the e-poster stations in the Exhibition Area at the Meeting. Viewers will be able to easily find and browse e-posters and download the posters in PDF format when permitted by the presenter.
Clarity: People attending a poster session are free to move about from poster to poster and often must view a poster from a distance, making it difficult to read excessive text and small fonts. Keeping this in mind, we recommend you do the following:
Use large fonts and limit text to essential information. Place your major points in the poster and have the nonessential, but interesting, sidelights for informal discussion.
Consider whether the sequence of information is evident. Indicate the ordering of your material with numbers, letters, or arrows when necessary.
"A picture's worth a thousand words." Imaginative use of captioned illustrations, photographs, graphs, video (without sound), or other types of visually appealing material are extremely effective at communicating during a poster presentation.
Make your final conclusions or summary a concise statement of your most important findings.
Include the title and name(s) of the presenter(s) in a larger, bolder font than the rest of the poster.
Remember contrast. Put light-colored fonts on dark backgrounds and dark-colored fonts on light backgrounds so viewers can see your text clearly. Imbed high-quality graphics and videos.
Avoid hyperlinks. Instead, incorporate a QR code into your presentation that will direct attendees to a website that contains more information about your poster and research.
Sound is not permitted due to the open area in which posters are presented.
Abstracts selected for e-poster Viewing will have no specific presentation date and time.
Any e-poster can be viewed on any screen at any time. The author of the e-poster may stand by the e-poster screens in order present their e-poster during breaks. Additionally, delegates will be able to email the presenter via the e-poster system in order to set up a meeting to discuss the e-poster.
These posters do not require printing or production of materials – as your work will be available for viewing electronically.

Please review the specific guidelines for the types of submission being prepared (e.g., lecture, recitals). Kindly note the following guidelines for your Power Point/ Recorded presentation:
• For all projects, the video should be continuous. All submissions should be edited to remove excess background noise, blank space, and applause.
• Videos can be shot using any device capable of recording standard or high-definition video: a high-quality webcam on your computer, a hand-held video camera, or a hand-held device such as the more recent iPhone and iPad.
• Videos can be standard definition or High Definition. If you are unsure which definition your camera shoots, it is most likely one of these two. Higher resolutions will result in better quality videos.
• Videos with a 16:9 aspect ratio will look the best. Most 4:3 resolutions are also supported. • By virtue of submitting a video to UR Forum for publication consideration, it is understood that the video submitter agrees to the Copyright and Submission Guidelines.
• As you would for any print publication submitted for consideration, be certain that your video is free from misspellings, inaccuracies, and misappropriations. Videos that do not adhere to these requirements will not be reviewed.
• Video may be, of course, shot in any format but it must be converted to either MP4 or M4V format before submission to Symposium.
