Gianpiero Gravante

Biography :

Dr. Gianpiero Gravante, MD, PhD Consultant in General and Colorectal Surgery, Department of General Surgery, ASL Lecce – Francesco Ferrari Hospital, Casarano, Italy (February 2020–), where he also serves as Deputy Head of the General Surgery Department. He earned his MD in 2000 from the Università “Campus Bio-Medico” di Roma and completed his General Surgery specialization in 2006 at the Università “Tor Vergata” in Rome. In 2010, he earned his PhD from the same university. In 2018, he obtained a Colorectal Surgery specialization through the East Midlands Deanery in the UK, followed by three six-month fellowships at Oxford University Hospitals in laparoscopic colorectal surgery, IBD surgery, and emergency surgery. Dr. Gravante’s surgical expertise encompasses colorectal and anal oncology, inflammatory bowel disease (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease), pelvic floor disorders, and diagnostic/therapeutic endoscopy, with over 3,000 surgical procedures and 5000 endoscopy performed. He has authored over 240 peer-reviewed articles, with a total impact factor exceeding 500 and an h-index of 54 (Google Scholar data). He is Associate Editor, Member of the Editorial Board and Reviewer for numerous international surgical journals.
