Professor Dr.-Ing. Frank Scholwin is an environmental engineer who obtained his doctorate in biological waste treatment at Bauhaus University in Weimar. Between 2003 and 2010 he conducted and coordinated biogas research and consulting activities at the German center for bioenergy research (Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum gGmbH www.dbfz.de). In 2011 and 2012 he was that organisation's Scientific Director. Since 2008 he is Honorary Professor of Biogas/Bioenergy at the University of Rostock. In 2012 je founded his own Institute for Biogas, Waste Management & Energy (www.biogasundenergie.de). He is author of a large number of book chapters, conference contributions, and journal articles. He is engaged in the scientific boards of conferences and scientific bodies as well as in the European Biogas Association (EBA) as vice chair of the EBA Scientific Advisory Board.
