
Biography :
Dr. Sheo Shankar Rai is an industry professional turned academician with 29 years of extensive industry experience and 9 years of experience in academia and research. He holds a Mining degree from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, a PGDM from the Paris School of Mines, France (Mines ParisTech), and a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM), Dhanbad. Dr. Rai’s work and research cover the mining and metals value chain, including Mineral Exploration and Resource Management, Mine Design and Engineering, Mineral Processing, and Mine Closure. His research also focuses on critical minerals for the global energy transition, contributing to sustainable resource development. In addition, he works on modern energy conversion systems, particularly in the field of renewable energy systems. Dr. Rai is also actively involved in research on decarbonization technologies, including Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS), with a specific focus on utilizing unmineable deep-seated coal seams for carbon storage.
