Biography :
Prof Matthias Franke, holds a degree and a doctorate in environmental engineering. His main areas of expertise include chemical recycling of plastic waste and composite materials. He also works on the conversion of biomass and biogenic residues into fuels, basic chemicals, and biocarbonates, as well as the decontamination of construction waste using thermochemical processes. Matthias Franke is member of the Executive Board of the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Circular Plastics Economy, member of the National Advisory Group on Chemical Recycling and member of the Bavarian Bioeconomy Advisory Council. At University of Birmingham he has an honorary professorship and is lecturer in waste management at the Technical University of Munich.
