Biography :
Dr. Blobel has been a pioneer in the digital transformation of healthcare, contributing significantly to eHealth, telemedicine, and digital pathology. His leadership in the European Project “Telepathology Network in Europe” and co-editorship of the Handbook “Perspectives on Digital Pathology” have been instrumental in advancing digital solutions for pathology and diagnostic imaging. His work provides vital frameworks for data integration, interoperability, and security in pathology and forensic informatics, supporting evidence-based diagnostics and research. A prolific scholar, Dr. Blobel has authored and edited over 600 scientific papers and numerous books, while supervising a large number of PhD candidates worldwide. As a representative of Germany in multiple international standards development organizations (HL7, ISO, CEN, IEEE, ASTM, SNOMED, OMG, and others), he has significantly influenced global healthcare data standards-crucial to the modernization of pathology and forensic data management. Dr. Blobel continues to contribute to international academic and research collaborations, fostering innovation at the intersection of digital health, pathology, and forensic sciences.
