Biography :
Leslie I. Gold, PhD, is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Her research focuses on cancer biology, cellular growth and regulation, tissue repair, and regenerative medicine. Dr. Gold’s work has explored the molecular mechanisms underlying normal and malignant cell growth, with particular emphasis on hormone-regulated cancers, including endometrial cancer. Her research has examined TGF-β signaling, cell-cycle regulation, ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation, hormone-dependent growth, and interactions between epithelial and stromal cells within the tumor microenvironment. A major focus of her research has also been calreticulin, a multifunctional protein involved in cellular signaling and tissue repair. Her laboratory has investigated calreticulin’s role in cell proliferation, migration, extracellular-matrix production, wound healing, and tissue regeneration, including applications in corneal repair and biomaterials. Dr. Gold has authored more than 100 scientific publications and has contributed to the biomedical research community through scientific review, professional service, and leadership activities. Her career reflects a commitment to translating fundamental discoveries in molecular and cellular biology into potential applications for cancer prevention and treatment, wound healing, and regenerative medicine.
