Dr. Varun Vohra is a French researcher with Indian origins who has received his PhD in Materials Science from the University of Milan-Bicocca in Italy. He was a European Marie-Curie Fellow between 2006 and 2009, and was awarded two prestigious Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Fellowships in 2011 and 2012 for his studies on efficient organic solar cells (OSCs). Between 2014 and 2019, he was a Japan Science and Technology Agency Fellow Assistant Professor at the University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo and was promoted to Associate Professorship in March 2019. He was one of the pioneer researchers who fabricated OSCs with power conversion efficiencies over 10%. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed academic contributions on prestigious journals such as Nature Photonics, ACS Nano, Small and Advanced Materials. Research in his group currently focuses on innovative processes and materials for green and sustainable photovoltaic windows which could be easily fabricated and implemented in developing countries with minimal initial financial and energy investments.
