Biography :
Dr. Jiangang Shen is Professor and DRPC Chairman in School of Chinese Medicine, University of Hong Kong. Dr. Shen received Bachelor of Medicine from Hunan Chinese Medical University in 1984, Master of Medicine (Integrative Medicine and Pathophysiology) from Sun Yat-Sen University in 1990 and Ph.D. (Biophysics) from Institute of Biophysics Chinese Academy of Science in 1998. He conducted his postdoctoral studies in Harvard Medical School and Brigham Women Hospital afterwards. Dr. Shen is a registered TCM practitioner in Hong Kong SAR, China. His major research interests include: (1) Artificial intelligence recognitions for traditional Chinese medicine pulse patterns and its correlation study with body constitution in cardiovascular diseases. (2) Molecular targets and drug discovery from Chinese Medicine targeting oxidative stress and redox signaling for inhibiting brain damage and promoting brain repair in treatment of stroke and neurodegenerative diseases; (3) Efficacies and safety of Chinese herbal medicine for cerebral and cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Shen has published over 200 papers in prestigious international journals and 16 books or book chapters, and filed 10 patents. Dr Shen serves as panel members for several prestigious government funding agencies including Biology and Medicine Panel, University Grants Committee and Health and Medical Research Fund, Hong Kong SAR, China.
