Biography :
Emilia Severin has been a Professor of Human Genetics with the "Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Bucharest, Romania) for more than 30 years, enjoying an excellent reputation in the academic environment for her contribution to medical genetics education for students. She also serves as a PhD mentor at the university. In the field of scientific research, one of the key projects in which she was involved focused on both clinicla and molecular diagnosis of non-syndromic childhood deafness. As a senior member of Romanian National Alliance for Rare Diseases (RONARD), she is the co-author of the Romanian National Plan for Rare Diseases as a part of the Romanian National Health Strategy. Additionally, as a member of European Union Committee of Experts in Rare Diseases (EUCERD, she was involved in the preparation of the Recommendation for cross-border genetic testing of rare diseases in the EU. Professor Severin is also affiliated with several prestigious scientific societies and professional organizations, including the American Society of Human Genetics and the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics.
