Biography :
Mauro Bernardi is Professor Emeritus of Internal Medicine at Bologna University. He was director of the Postgraduate School of Internal Medicine and the Department of Internal Medicine and Hepatology. He chaired the Bologna University Research Observatory and the Bologna University Bioethics Committee. He served as treasurer of the European Association for the Study of the Liver, and vice-chairman of the European Consortium for the Study of Chronic Liver Failure. His main research field is Hepatology (cirrhosis, portal hypertension, and related complications). In 2015 received the Distinguished Service Award from the Italian Association for the Study of the Liver.
